Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the difference between DDP and DDU shipping?
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means we assume all responsibility, costs, and risks including destination customs clearance, import duties, and taxes. The goods are delivered straight to your door with all fees prepaid. DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) means we deliver the cargo to your address, but you are responsible for import customs clearance and paying any destination duties and taxes.
What is the difference between FCL and LCL ocean freight, and how do I choose?
FCL (Full Container Load) means you book an entire dedicated container (20ft, 40ft, etc.) for your goods, which is faster and safer for larger volumes (typically above 15 CBM). LCL (Less than Container Load) means your cargo shares container space with other shippers, which is more cost-effective for smaller volumes (below 15 CBM), though it may involve slightly longer transit times due to consolidation.
How is the volumetric weight for Air Freight calculated?
Air freight uses volumetric weight when cargo is light but bulky. It is calculated as Length x Width x Height (in cm) divided by 5000 or 6000 depending on the carrier. The freight cost is charged based on whichever weight is greater between actual gross weight and volumetric weight.
Can you combine multiple small packages from different suppliers into one shipment?
Yes, we specialize in consolidation services. Your suppliers can send goods to our designated warehouse in China. We will receive, inspect, repack, and combine them into a single consolidated international shipment to help you save significantly on shipping costs.
What are Demurrage and Detention charges in ocean freight shipping?
Demurrage refers to the fees charged by the port terminal when your container is not moved out of the port within the allowed free days. Detention refers to fees charged by the ocean line carrier when you keep the container empty outside of the port beyond the permitted return window. We optimize operations to minimize these risks.
Can I ship lithium batteries or products containing them by air?
Yes, but it is highly regulated. Items containing batteries must be UN38.3 certified and packaged according to IATA Dangerous Goods regulations. We provide step-by-step guidance on required documentation and packing compliance for safe transport.
